President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called the rejection of the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) on Ukraine's path to the Alliance an important result.

"An important result is the recognition that Ukraine does not need a Membership Action Plan on the way," he said at a press conference in Vilnius on Wednesday.

"I think this success at the summit is for all of us, for Ukraine, our soldiers, for our citizens, for our children, for absolutely everyone," he said.

"The skillful use of NATO weapons by our soldiers has already proved that global democracy is stronger than any terrorist threats against us. At the same time, even during a full-scale war with Russia, Ukraine continues to reform," Zelenskyy said.

In particular, he said, "security guarantees are so important for people. Security guarantees for Ukraine on the way to NATO. Not instead of this, - I emphasize this once again, namely, security guarantees on the path of integration. And today, these security guarantees can be confirmed by the G7."

And I think that if this happens, we will work on it, it will really be such an important concrete success for us. We can state that the results of the summit are good, but if there was an invitation, they would be perfect," he said.
