Stefanchuk invites PACE to organize mission to establish, collect facts of Russia's crimes in Ukraine for intl courts

At a meeting with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Tiny Kox in Lviv, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk suggested that PACE organize a mission to establish and collect facts of Russia's crimes in Ukraine for international courts.

"I proposed PACE to organize a mission to establish and collect the facts of Russia's crimes in Ukraine for international courts. I hope for help in bringing the aggressor to justice. I also look forward to an ongoing assessment of the human rights situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine," Stefanchuk said, whose words are quoted on the Verkhovna Rada's Telegram channel on Wednesday.

He stressed that this is Kox's first visit to Ukraine.

"We met in Lviv to discuss the consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the best ways for the Council of Europe to support Ukraine," Stefanchuk said.

In turn, Kox indicated that he discussed with Stefanchuk the role of PACE in eliminating the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, including war crimes committed by Russian troops, and ensuring the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

"A constructive meeting with Verhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk in Lviv, discussing the role of PACE in addressing the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine (including the war crimes committed by the Russian forces) and assuring post-war reconstruction," Kox said on Twitter on Wednesday.
