Russian troops creating 'fake news' at Chornobyl NPP to justify nuclear terror for IAEA – Energoatom

Another group of Russian propaganda representatives have arrived at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant occupied by Russian soldiers to create fake information materials about the activities of the plant under occupation, Energoatom has said.

"Today, March 24, 2022, a 'fresh' group of Russian propagandists arrived at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant captured by the Russians to shoot another fake 'movie' about the operation of the station," Energoatom said in a message on its Telegram channel on Thursday.

The company claims that the purpose of organizing this information landing is to convince the International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA) of the "normality" of nuclear terrorism and hide the real state of affairs with radiation leaks and environmental pollution.

As reported, the IAEA, citing the Ukrainian nuclear regulator, said yesterday that fires near the Chornobyl nuclear power plant that started on March 11 cannot be completely extinguished, rescuers do not currently have access to the electricity grid, and some increase in cesium concentrations has been recorded in Kyiv and west of Chornobyl.

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi called the situation when major nuclear facilities operate in an armed conflict zone "dramatic and unique," and noted that the situation remains distressing, and "the need to prevent a nuclear accident becomes more pressing with each day that passes."

Earlier, Energoatom stated that the Russia's occupiers were using dirty propaganda techniques to report about the situation at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which they seized on March 4, bringing in 14 Russia propaganda journalists to cover the story.
