NBU returns requirement for providing supporting documents for export of over EUR 10,000

Citizens are once again required to provide supporting documents from banks when moving foreign currency values in excess of EUR 10,000 outside of Ukraine, in particular, documents on cash withdrawals from their own accounts or on the purchase of banking metals.

"Today, to prevent the withdrawal of capital abroad, as well as taking into account communication with the relevant state authorities, the National Bank decided to return the requirement to provide supporting documents when moving foreign currency values abroad worth more than EUR 10,000 (in equivalent)," the NBU said in a statement on its website.

According to it, the relevant changes were approved by NBU Board Resolution No. 51 dated March 13, which canceled the norm of the resolution dated March 4, which allowed individuals not to provide supporting documents when transporting currency values abroad.

The NBU recalled that citizens still have to declare currency values, the value of which exceeds EUR 10,000, when moving them abroad.
