U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced NATO's readiness for collective defense against any threat.

He said at a press conference in Tallinn on Tuesday that President Biden gave permission to send another 7,000 troops to Europe and deploy additional troops on the eastern flank of NATO. This included sending fighter jets to guard the airspace of the Baltic countries.

According to Blinken, as President Biden said, they defend every inch of NATO territory with all our collective defense forces. Our commitment to Article 5 (NATO Charter) is unwavering: an attack on one is an attack on all. Together with NATO allies, we are ready to confront any threat, he said.

Promising more aid to Ukraine, the Secretary of State expressed concern over the plight of the civilian population. There are more and more dead and wounded. To date, 1.7 million people have fled Ukraine, 700,000 people are internal refugees, Blinken said.

He said that the possibility of establishing an oil embargo against Russia is being discussed. President Biden talked about this with the British Prime Minister and with the President of France. At the same time, everything must be done not to be energy dependent on Russia. Now the ground is being created for such changes. This means moving towards renewable energy and taking other green turn measures, the Secretary of State said.
