Poroshenko congratulates Zurabishvili on being elected president of Georgia

President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine has congratulated Salome Zurabishvili on winning the presidential elections in Georgia and voiced the hope for further deepening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

"I herewith sincerely congratulate Salome Zurabishvili on being elected as president of Georgia. I wish you all the very best in serving Georgia for the sake of democratic European development of your country and consolidation of society," Poroshenko said in a tweet on Twitter on November 29.

"I am confident we will be able to deepen strategic partnership between our countries even further," the Ukrainian head of state said.

As reported, Georgia's Central Election Commission (CEC) has counted 98.76% of the ballots cast in the second round of the presidential elections in Georgia that took place on November 28.

According to the CEC, Salome Zurabishvili, a candidate from the pro-government party, received 59.61% of the vote, while her rival Grigol Vashadze got only 40.39%.
