Kyiv to discuss detentions of Ukrainians in Belarus with Minsk – Klimkin

The detentions of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus and their transfer to Russia indicate that the presence of Ukrainians in this country may be dangerous, and this issue will be discussed with Minsk, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said.

"This indicates that the stay of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Belarus is potentially dangerous, and we will talk about this with Minsk. We understand that the Russian authorities are operating on Belarussian territory. Russia is present there in the security sphere," Klimkin said in interview with Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, when responding to the comment that a Ukrainian journalist was arrested for spying in Belarus and a Ukrainian blogger was detained and transferred to Russia, where he stays in prison.

At the same time, Klimkin said, "we have no big problems" in political and economic relations between Ukraine and Belarus.

"Again, this is about Russia, which is trying to destabilize the CEE region. In addition, it is trying to bring a split to the EU," he added.
