New rules of parking vehicles come into force in Ukraine

A law has come into force in Ukraine, providing for new rules of parking and stopping vehicles, which are designed to eliminate spontaneous parking.

"New rules for stopping and parking cars are coming into force. These innovations are aimed at eliminating spontaneous parking and the problems associated with it. This problem is especially acute in our capital and large cities," the press service of the Interior Ministry said citing the first deputy chief of the patrol police department, Oleksiy Biloshytsky.

He noted that the main innovation is that the authorized persons will be able to issue orders on an administrative offense in the absence of the driver, brought to administrative responsibility.

"Thus, law enforcers will not have to wait for the driver, as now, to write him a fine. According to the new law, special municipal services will be able to do this," the policeman added.

In case of violation of the rules of stopping or parking, if it is fixed on a photo or a video, a representative of the National Police or a parking inspector are required to place a copy of the decision on bringing to administrative responsibility on the windshield of the vehicle, if the technical capabilities allow identifying the person being in charge. If it is not technically possible to establish the offender, the authorized persons will leave a message on bringing to administrative responsibility on the windshield.

The patrol police department said the law clearly defines the cases when the car can be evacuated. This will be possible if the vehicle is in the second or third row of the carriageway, is located on the places forbidden by traffic rules: on railway crossings, tramways, bridges and under them, in tunnels, on pedestrian crossings and closer than ten meters to them.
