Tymoshenko leading presidential candidate poll, followed by Poroshenko, Zelensky and Hrytsenko – KIIS survey

Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has the most support among presidential candidates -19.3%, according to a Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) poll.

According to the survey among Ukrainians who have already determined their choice, 11.9% are prepared to vote for incumbent President Petro Poroshenko, for showman Volodymyr Zelensky – 11.8% and Civil Position Party leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko – 10.9%.

Some 8.4% of those surveyed support Ukrainian singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Opposition Bloc leader Yuriy Boiko – 8.1%, For Life Party leader Vadym Rabinovych – 7.5%, Radical Party leader Oleh Liashko – 6.7%, followed by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy – 4.2%.

If presidential elections were held now, 10.6% of Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and older would vote for Tymoshenko, for Poroshenko – 6.5%, for Zelensky - 6.5% and Hrytsenko – 6%.

KIIS Deputy Director Anton Hrushevsky noted that political party and candidate registration has not taken place, so any list of possible candidates can be used. He said very often political forces test the electoral possibilities of candidates, even if they have not announced plans to run for office.

The KIIS poll was conducted during September 8-23 through a personal interview among 2,226 respondents living in 110 settlements in all regions of Ukraine, except for the Russia-occupied Crimea and areas beyond government control in Luhansk and Donetsk regions using a four-level stochastic sample representative of the population of Ukraine aged 18 and older. The statistical sampling error (with a probability of 0.95 and a design effect of 1.5) does not exceed 3.3% for indicators close to 50%, 2.8% for indicators close to 25%, 2% for indicators close to 10%, and 1.4% for indicators close to 5%.
