Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko says he has no plans to run for president in 2019, citing obligations to residents of the Ukrainian capital.

"It will be unfair to jump from one post to another," Klitschko told journalists on the sidelines of the 15th YES Annual Meeting organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

He said he had promised to residents of Kyiv that they would be able to be proud of their city and said he would fulfil his promise.

At the same time, Klitschko does not rule out that he will be ready to suggest "doing it in every city" after this task is achieved in Kyiv.

When asked whether he may support President Petro Poroshenko in the upcoming presidential election, the mayor said he had not yet heard from Poroshenko about his plans to run for a new term.

"If there is an announcement, I'll be able to express my viewpoint then," he added.
