The Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) for the settlement of the situation in Donbas, with the participation of representatives of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (ORDLO), supports the introduction of a ceasefire in connection with the beginning of the academic year from midnight on August 29, according to Darka Olifer, the press secretary for Ukraine's representative in the TCG and second Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma.

"The Trilateral Contact Group, with the participation of ORDLO representatives, reaffirms its full commitment to the indefinite ceasefire in connection with the beginning of the academic year, starting from midnight on August 29, 2018. The parties undertake to take all necessary steps to ensure a sustainable ceasefire," Olifer wrote on her Facebook page on Wednesday following a TCG meeting in Minsk.

She also added that in order to monitor compliance with the ceasefire, the parties undertake to ensure reliable and safe access for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) throughout Ukraine, in accordance with its mandate.
