Ukraine's Embassy in the Czech Republic has protested in connection with a visit to the territory of Russian-occupied Crimea of a number of Czech deputies of the European Parliament.

"We express our strong protest over the illegal visit of Jaromir Kohlicek, a member of the European Parliament from the Czech Republic, and Jaroslav Doubrava, a senator of the parliament of the Czech Republic, to the Russian-occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The issue concerns another violation of Ukrainian legislation by the said politicians who, despite repeated warnings, continue to blatantly ignore not only Ukrainian laws, but also international law," reads a statement published on the embassy's website on Monday.

The statement notes that most Czech politician, as well as Czech government officials, are unequivocally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and condemn Russian aggression, as well as Moscow's occupation of part of Ukrainian territory.

"To somehow whitewash their crimes, Russia is chaotically searching around the world for politicians with a lower threshold of political hygiene, who are ready to participate in propaganda voyages to the occupied peninsula. Unfortunately, several such politicians were found in the Czech Republic," the statement says.

The embassy recalled that Ukraine reserves the right to apply to the foreign citizens who violently and systematically violate the rules of entry into the occupied territories an entire range of sanctions envisaged by Ukrainian legislation.
