TV, radio committee proposes sanctions on Russian publishers who produce anti-Ukrainian content

Ukraine's State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting has proposed that the Cabinet of Ministers apply economic sanctions on Russian legal entities which systematically produce and distribute books of anti-Ukrainian content.

According to the press service of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, a list of books has been compiled, the content of which is aimed at eliminating Ukraine's independence, promoting violence, inciting interethnic, racial and religious hatred, committing terrorist acts.

This list includes 172 publications issued by 35 publishers. The following Russian publishing houses which publish anti-Ukrainian content have been identified, according to the committee: Algoritm, Knizhniy Mir, Centrepolygraph, Eksmo, AST, Veche and others.

In addition, monitoring has detected a significant number of websites that offer the above literature for sale in paper or electronic form, and also provide an opportunity to read these books online.

"In order to protect national interests, national security, Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and in accordance with Article 5 of the Law of Ukraine "On Sanctions," the committee proposes to submit proposals for the consideration of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) in relation to Russian legal entities which manufacture and distribute in Ukraine publications of anti-Ukrainian content," the committee said.
