Kyiv expects 'Normandy Four' foreign ministers to simply compare their stances on Donbas

The foreign ministers of the 'Normandy Four' countries (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) are unlikely to agree upon the Donbas settlement roadmap at their meeting in Minsk on Tuesday, Ukrainian representative to the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for Donbas Olha Aivazovska said.

"The low probability of having an efficient meeting in Minsk today is evidenced by the problem of the absence of a coordinated document which representatives and heads of the foreign ministries could formalize," she told reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday.

The November consultations between advisors bore no fruit, the Ukrainian representative said.

"This is because every side, primarily, Ukraine and the Russian Federation, has its own tasks. So, the meeting is likely to compare positions of foreign ministry officials [...] rather than approve a single document, which has yet to be elaborated," Aivazovska said.

She noted that the foreign ministers had not met since the meeting of the 'Normandy format' leaders in Berlin in October.

Ukraine has drafted its roadmap, Russia has a draft of its own, and France and Germany are elaborating a joint roadmap, Aivazovska said.
