Visa free regime with EU for Ukraine, Georgia to function since New Year - Polish ambassador

The Republic of Poland's Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Pieklo believes that in the nearest future a positive decision on the introduction of a visa free regime with the European Union (EU) for citizens of Ukraine and Georgia will be accepted.

"We believe that from the New Year Ukraine and Georgia will have a visa free regime," Pieklo said a briefing in Kharkiv on Tuesday.

He said that the introduction of a visa free regime for Ukraine won’t provoke a migrant crisis in the EU.

"Poland demonstrates that millions of Ukrainians in Poland is not a migrant disaster like the one that occurred in Germany. It is possible to do in such a way to benefit both for Ukraine and Poland," Pieklo said.

He also said that only those who have biometric passports will be able to use a visa free regime.
