Germany making efforts to establish visa-free regime for Ukraine

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Paruby during a meeting with German Ambassador to Ukraine Ernst Reichel said that Ukraine is counting on the adoption of the European Parliament decision on visa liberalization in the nearest future.

As the press service of the Verkhovna Rada reported on Tuesday, Parubiy told the German ambassador about the implementation of Ukraine of "all the imposed conditions, including on the issue of a visa-free regime, and that Ukraine looks forward to the adoption of this decision by the European Parliament in the nearest future."

As reported, the parliament speaker told the ambassador about the main directions of the reforms process in the country and said that "one of the key indicators of this process is the introduction of the anti-corruption legislation, which lies at the basis of granting Ukraine a visa-free regime."

Reichel said that Germany is making efforts to establish a visa-free regime for Ukraine.

"In general, it is true, and we support you together with our French friends, and the U.S.," the ambassador said stressing the need for simultaneous decision on the closure of the mechanism of a visa-free regime as a whole due to migration crisis in Europe.

Reichel said that Germany would continue to support Ukraine, which made its choice in favor of European values. He considers the doubt unacceptable in sufficient stability of his country in this regard. "We support the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. We are trying to prove that international law must be respected," the diplomat said.
