Presidents of Poland and Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Andrzej Duda have adopted a joint declaration.

"I thank our fellows for the preparation of a very important joint declaration, which will be soon made public, I think that with your mediation, it will be presented to the public," Duda said after a meeting with Poroshenko in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"I would like to thank our teams for making a wonderful joint declaration, which has been created as a result of our meeting," Poroshenko said for his part.

According to the Ukrainian service of the Polish Radio, the declaration deals with strategic partnership, the support of Ukraine's pro-Western aspirations and historical dialogue.

The joint declaration also states that the history of both countries contains tragic pages.

In addition it mentions Ukraine's European integration, which Poland has consistently supported. The declaration says that Warsaw stands for the abolition of EU visas for Ukrainians.

"The presidents noted that Poland will support Ukrainian reforms. Warsaw and Kyiv declare that they will support and defend Polish and Ukrainian national minorities," the Polish Radio reported.
