Turchynov: situation in Donbas, growing instability in EU forms external security environment around Ukraine
The Russian Federation uses the occupied areas of Donbas as a testing ground for their new weapons and tactics, which reflects the worsening of the situation in eastern Ukraine, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has reported.
"It is important to realize today when the situation in the east of the country significantly escalates. Russians not only increase the number of attacks but also use certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as a testing ground for new weapons and modern tactics," he said when presenting the Security and Defense Information Center in Kyiv.
"The long-term nature of the Russian threat against the background of a stable growth of instability in Europe and in the world forms the external security environment around Ukraine and defines the most important priority of national security in the policy of our state," Turchynov added.
