Tax parliamentary committee fails to back dismissal of fiscal service head

The parliamentary committee for tax and customs policies has failed to declare work of Head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov and his first deputy and head of the tax police Serhiy Bilan unsatisfactory. The committee also failed to approve recommendations for the government to replace them.

The issue was discussed at a committee meeting on Wednesday.

Committee members said there are not enough arguments in favor of staff reshuffling and no clarity who will head the authority in the future.

Nasirov said that the draft decision was politically motivated.

He said that no evidence is for abuse of office claimed by some politicians.

He urged to assess the work of the tax agency taking concrete results, in particular, the increase of average monthly VAT collection from UAH 8 billion to UAH 12 billion.

Commenting on the tax police, Nasirov said that skilled investigators work there and it is better to raise salaries for them.

"The problem of remuneration of labor. UAH 40,000 more is paid at NABU, while the salary of a tax policeman is up to UAH 4,000," he said.
