Judges accused of corruption, illegal sentences should leave judiciary – Yatseniuk

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has stressed the need to purge the judiciary and dismiss the judges accused of corruption, saying that it is one of the most important stages to fight the corruption in Ukraine.

"The judges accused of corruption or illegal sentences should leave the judiciary once and forever," Yatseniuk said a TV program, titled "10 Minutes with the Prime Minister," on Sunday.

He said that the first step had already been made in that direction – the Verkhovna Rada had voted for corresponding amendments to the Constitution, which now need to be given a second reading.

After that, the premier said, new bills on the judicial system and status of judges should be tabled in parliament for the second reading.

As was reported, the Ukrainian presidential administration said it hoped that the Verkhovna Rada would support judiciary-related amendments to the Constitution in spring 2016 and these changes would start to be implemented three months later.
