Rada gets finished draft on Constitutional amendments that authorizes parliament to dismiss prosecutor general

A bill on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on justice reform that authorizes the parliament to express a vote of no confidence to prosecutor general and to initiate his resignation has been submitted to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The website of the Ukrainian parliament posted a completed variant of the bill No. 3524 dated January 26.

According to the amendments, clause 25 of the Article 85 of the Constitution reinstate a norm under which "Verkhovna Rada now is empowered to give consent for appointment or resignation of the prosecutor general by the head of state, to express a vote of no confidence to him after which his resignation is following.

On January 27, the bill was sent for consideration by the parliamentary profile committee.

Previously, leader of Bloc of Petro Poroshenko's faction Yuriy Lutsenko said that Verkhovna Rada should send to the Constitutional Court an updated draft on amendments to the Constitution on justice that envisages that the parliament is authorized to express a vote of no confidence to the prosecutor general and to initiate his resignation.
