Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine concerning the extension of powers of local self-government and streamlining the provision of administrative services, which was passed by the Verkhovna Rada on December 10.

According to this document, law enforcement authorities and local governments are endowed with additional powers, which will significantly change and streamline the procedure of the provision of administrative services, the Ukrainian president's press service said in a statement.

"The amendments deal with the registration of place of residence, the provision of information from the State Land Cadastre, processing documents confirming citizenship, creating a registry of territorial communities, the exchange of information among the registries of territorial communities and the transfer of information into the Unified State Demographic Registry. The law also regulates the procedure for the access to information in these registries," the statement reads.

Under this law, starting from March 1, 2016, the terms for the entry into and the use of the data from the State Land Cadastre and starting from April 4, 2016, the rules and procedures for the registration of place of residence will be changed.
