Ukrainian Armed Forces units to train at International Peacekeeping Center - minister

The Ukrainian armed forces will start training at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center of the Academy of the Ukrainian Ground Forces this October, Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff Viktor Muzhenko has said.

"The first unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which already has a weighty combat experience, will start training at this Center in the October month," Muzhenko wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday.

The forces currently training there are both the military who were drafted during the sixth phase of the partial mobilization campaign, and soldiers from the Ukrainian National Guard who are on a joint mission with U.S. paratroopers as part of the Fearless Guardian exercise, he said.

At the International Center, Muzhenko met with representatives of the U.S. and Canadian armed forces, who are taking part in the training of the Ukrainian military. The officials discussed problematic issues and prospects for the future cooperation in raising the defensive capability of the Ukrainian army.

"We have the initial results and a clear understanding that the system of training our defenders needs improvement … We should not be content with achievements," Muzhenko said.
