State Fiscal Service staff to be considerably reduced, tax police liquidated - Yatseniuk

The number of State Fiscal Service employees will be considerably reduced and the tax police will be liquidated, while the customs service will have a single standard and the single customs clearance fee will be implemented across Ukraine, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said on television late on Sunday.

The information and public relations department of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has reported that Yatseniuk said that a total of 60,000 people currently work in the State Fiscal Service, checking around 3 million of economic entities.

"Only 1,500 companies replenish the national budget by 80%... [Therefore] the State Fiscal Service staff will be considerably reduced," he said.

Yatseniuk said that the State Fiscal Service should not be a corrupted supervision agency, but rather a service for each and every taxpayer.

"They are the first assistant of taxpayers who want to pay taxes to the state treasury fairly and transparently," he said.

Yatseniuk said that the State Service of Financial Investigations will replace the tax police.

"This service is to reveal unfair taxpayers and protect fair and transparent taxpayers," he said.

Yatseniuk also said that the State Fiscal Service should establish a single standard for customs clearance of goods.
