Linkevicius assures Poroshenko of Vilnius' support for Ukraine on international arena

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius during their meeting have discussed the escalation of hostilities in Donbas and bilateral cooperation,

Poroshenko thanked Linkevicius for constant active support to Ukraine in the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity, provision of humanitarian assistance to refugees from Donbas, recreation of children and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian ATO warriors, the Ukrainian president's press service reported. "Lithuania is our old and sincere friend and reliable partner," Poroshenko said.

The Ukrainian president informed his Lithuanian guest on the situation in Donbas and emphasized the substantial escalation in hostilities on the delimitation line.

In his turn, Linkevicius assured the Ukrainian president of Lithuania's willingness to provide further comprehensive support to Ukraine, inter alia, through the consolidation of efforts of the world community for the termination of aggression against Ukraine.

In this context, Petro Poroshenko particularly noted Lithuania's role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

The parties also exchanged views on the prospects of interaction between the two states within the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and the introduction of visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.

The Lithuanian foreign minister confirmed his country's intention to further help Ukraine on the track of European integration and in the process of its large-scale internal transformations, particularly in the area of e-government.

The interlocutors discussed closer cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania in military and technical field, in particular in the framework of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade.
