Cabinet liquidates Automobile Roads of Ukraine – infrastructure minister
The Cabinet of Ministers decided to liquidate state JSC Automobile Roads of Ukraine on July 8, Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Andriy Pyvovarsky has said.
"This is the final point in the process of writing the road map, which explains how we will reform the system of roads, transfer operational capabilities to local authorities, will fund road construction," the minister said while speaking at a meeting of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with security officials and governors in Odesa.
As reported, with reference to Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Voschevsky, the governmental committee on infrastructure development and environmental policy supported the liquidation of Automobile Roads of Ukraine.
According to him, one of the important steps in reforming the road sector is to transfer regional road companies from state control to the management of local authorities. This process is prevented by the availability of an interim management structure – Automobile Roads of Ukraine, which controls regional road enterprises.
Voschevsky said this decision would be another step towards reforming the state system of highway administration.
