Avakov sets up department at Interior Ministry to recover corrupt asset

Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has created a department at the Interior Ministry to recover corrupt assets and appointed Olena Tyschenko as its head.

"A technical but important thing. [I have issued] an order at the ministry to create a department to recover corrupt assets," Avakov wrote on Facebook on Tuesday evening.

He said that the department would closely cooperate with law enforcement agencies from other countries to reveal and freeze assets of persons under investigation in Ukraine.

It will also "collect criminal assets in favor of the state on the basis of rulings by Ukrainian and foreign courts," "provide analytical support of investigations conducted by the Interior Ministry and coordinate efforts with the State Financial Monitoring Service and the Prosecutor General's Office within the department's authority," " collect and analyze of information from all open sources in other states to ensure the highest possible efficiency of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's investigation process."
