Yatseniuk: Purpose of Apr 28 conference not raising funds but extra political support

The international conference in support of reforms in Ukraine, to be held in Kyiv on April 28, will become the first conference for the wide presentation of Ukrainian initiatives and attracting additional political support, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has stated.

"We will report on the difficult but correct reforms carried out in Ukraine so that our international partners could see that this is new Ukraine, new approaches and the rules shared by the European world, which will allow to attract investors and show that Ukraine has started fight against corruption, changed tax rules, established tax and fiscal discipline, Ukraine step by step is moving towards the European Union, not in words, but in practice, including through adopting and implementing laws," the premier said at a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.

"The purpose of the conference is not raising additional funds. Now we are acting within the budget issued by the International Monetary Fund and our international partners," the premier said.

According to him, the Ukrainian government plans within the conference to present further steps Ukraine will take, including those with the support of the international community.
