Poroshenko announces change of customs service leadership

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced his intention to change the Ukrainian customs service leadership as a part of the battle against corruption.

"There will be no bribing in courts, there will be no bribing in the Road Traffic Inspectorate, there must be no bribing – and I will do everything so that there will be no bribing in customs, and the customs' leaders will be changed, and there will be no bribing in the tax police," he said in an interview on Inter TV channel on Saturday.

According to Poroshenko, the reform of the patrol service will, "within a matter of weeks," lead to its employees no longer accepting bribes

Poroshenko also said that the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin was exhibiting new approaches in battling corruption.

"I assure you that the corruption schemes still acting in Ukraine aren't covered by the highest authority," he said, and added that he would do his best to put every corrupt official in jail.
