No one was hurt in an explosion that occurred near a Ukrainian National Guard compound in Kharkiv last night.

Eyewitnesses told Interfax that investigators and criminologists were currently working at the scene.

The blast damaged the iron gates leading into the compound.

According to earlier reports, a powerful explosion occurred in Kharkiv at around 0200 a.m. and the sound of it was heard in several nearby villages.

An explosion was reported near a Ukrainian army unit's compound in Kholodna Hora in Kharkiv early on November 25. No one was hurt. The blast, however, damaged the fence surrounding the compound and a car parked nearby. Windows were also blown out in a five-storey residential building near the army unit compound.

A criminal investigation was opened into the November 25 incident on a count of intentionally causing damage to property through an explosion or another dangerous method.
