Ukraine troops guarding border in Luhansk region rejoin army after heavy fighting - NSDC

Ukrainian soldiers guarding the country's border in the southeast of the Luhansk region reunited with the main forces of the anti-terrorist operation near Savur-Mohyla and the town of Amvrosiyivka after three days of fighting, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has confirmed.
Social networking Web sites and local media reported earlier that servicemen of the 24th-51st and 72nd mechanized infantry divisions, 79th airborne division, the 3rd special operations regiment and the State Border Guard Service had managed to break through the encirclement and had reunited with the Ukrainian army after three days of fighting near Chervonopartyzansk, Diakove and Dovzhansky in the Luhansk region.
"In the course of this operation, our units repeatedly come under strikes, but managed to break through the terrorists' positions," NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
Ukrainian paratroopers were engaged in an armed clash with the "adversary" near the village of Uspenka, he said.
"The terrorists suffered heavy losses in terms of personnel and hardware," Lysenko said.
