Ukrainian ombudswoman demands Putin take measures to release pilot Savchenko

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska in her letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that measures be taken for the urgent release of Ukrainian citizen Nadia Savchenko, who now is being held at a pretrial detention facility in Voronezh.
"The charges of the Russian Investigative Committee (RIC) against Savchenko of being involved in the killing of Russian VGTRK journalists near Luhansk are absurd, as is the claim about her illegally crossing into Russian territory, without papers and disguised as a refugee," Lutkovska's press service quotes the letter on Friday.
She said that after open sources showed a video record of the questioning of arrested Savchenko made by unknown armed persons in Ukraine, after which she was found at pretrial detention facility of the city of Voronezh, casts doubt on the legitimacy of the RICs actions.
"An appeal of Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska to Russian President was a response to the statement of Russian Investigative Committee (RIC) spokesman Vladimir Markin in an interview with the Govorit Moskva radio station that there has been no request from Ukraine to release the pilot," the press service said.
Moreover, Lutkovska in her letter to Putin promised to take under personal control detailed probes by Ukrainian prosecutor's agencies into death of Russian citizens in Ukraine.
