Bill Clinton proposes making politics a game in which everyone wins

Approaches to political strategy and tactics in the world should be changed given current serious challenges, 42nd U.S. President Bill Clinton (1993-2001) has said.

"Most people think that politics is a zero-sum game. Our goal is to make politics a game from which where everyone wins," he said during a conversation, entitled "The World of Tomorrow: Designs by Visionary Leaders," which was held as part of the 10th Yalta Annual Meeting on Friday, according to the Web site of the forum.

As an example, he cited the current discussions in the U.S. Congress: "The debates have become absolutely absurd. The number one goal is to hold out politically."

Clinton also stressed the need to pursue a balanced and consensus-based policy at the international level.

"Let's find a new way to establish stable power - including at the international level - in order to address the global problems. We face the challenges. Technology helps us. At the same time, technology helps the people on the other side of the barricade who fight against us. We need to create a world in which everyone can win," he said.

In addition, he said he was confident that technology and communications may create new opportunities – "promote economic growth, fight poverty, make education accessible all over the world."

At the same time, Clinton said, on the other hand, the world of today suffers from high unemployment, severe poverty and is short of natural resources. In this context, he recalled that China is building three channels to divert water from the Yangtze River to the Yellow River in the country's parched north, to provide water for the thirsty mega-cities, and help keep up the pace of development.
