Ukraine is seeing a decrease in the number of divorces, the press service of State Registration Service of Ukraine reported on Friday.

The greatest number of marriage dissolutions in H1, 2013 were registered in Donetsk region (2,429), and the least number in Volyn region (297).

The service said 145,440 divorces were registered in the country in 2009; 126,068 in 2010; 61,872 in 2011; and 49,807 in 2012.

"In H1 this year 21,193 divorces were registered in Ukraine. If even this indicator remains the same as in H2, the dynamics still will be positive compared to last year. However, we hope that the number of divorces will fall in future," said the director of the department of the civil status of citizens of Ukraine's State Registration Service, Valentyna Kunda.

Earlier the service reported that Donetsk region was the leader in the number of registered marriages.
