Svoboda activist Bondar detained for beating up protesters in Kyiv on May released on UAH 17,000 bail

Shevchenkivsky District Court in Kyiv has released Serhiy Bondar, a member of the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union, who was detained for beating up young men on Sofiyska Square in Kyivon May 18, on UAH 17,205 bail.

"Svoboda activist Serhiy Bondar, who is suspected of beating up athletic men, has been released on bail! The amount of the bail is UAH 17,205,"the spokesperson of the Kyiv city branch of Svoboda, Oleksandr Aronets, wrote on his Facebook page.

As reported, Bondar was detained for beating up men on Sofiyska Square in Kyiv on May 18 and taken to a detention center. A criminal case was opened under Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism).

Svoboda said that four more nationalists were suspected under the same case, in particular, Svoboda activists Yaroslav Lysenko, Oleksiy Vorontsov and Serhiy Boiko, as well as social activist Vitaliy Hruzynov.
