Azarov orders officials to monitor work to tackle possible flooding in Ukrainian part of Danube

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has instructed Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul, Chairman of the State Service on Emergency Situations Mykhailo Bolotskykh and Chairman of the State Agency on Water Resources Vasyl Stashuk to personally oversee the work to tackle the negative effects of flooding in the Ukrainian part of the Danube, which is expected on June 20-25.

"I'm instructing Deputy Prime Minister Vilkul, Head of the State Service on Emergency Situations Mykhailo Bolotskykh and Head of the State Agency on Water Resources Stashuk to personally oversee the situation at the scene," he said, while opening a government meeting on Wednesday.

He said that Ukraine should not repeat the mistakes made by neighboring countries, which failed tp cope with floods in all regions. Instead they should protect population centers and commercial facilities.
