Over 30,000 policemen to guard public order in Ukraine on May 8-9

More than 30,000 policemen will maintain public order in Ukraine on May 8-9 during celebrations to mark Victory Day.

A posting on the Web site of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine reads that on Wednesday, May 8, some 370 mass events involving around 139,000 people will be held in 200 residential areas of the country. Some 3,200 policemen and 160 servicemen of the Interior Ministry troops will maintain public order during these events.

On May 9, some 4,500 mass events will be held in 2,500 residential areas. Around 1.7 million people are expected to participate in the events. The most popular celebrations will take place in Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky, Luhansk, Vinnytsia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Around 27,000 officers, including 1,600 servicemen of the Interior Ministry troops, will watch public order there.

Some 2,200 law enforcers will maintain public order in Kyiv.
