Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will make a state visit to China this year, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara said at a press conference of the European Business Association in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Kozhara expressed the hope that after China forms the new government, the second meeting of the intergovernmental committee of Ukraine and China will take place.

"We will also prepare a state visit of the president to China this year. I hope that the Chinese leadership will also visit Ukraine this year," he said.

Kozhara also stressed that at present Ukraine's relations with China were developing very dynamically and bilateral trade exceeded $10 billion.

Earlier, the information policy department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that Kozhara met with Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun.

During their meeting on Monday, the minister and the ambassador discussed the practical ways to implement the reached agreements in trade, economy, agriculture, energy and investment sectors. They also noted the importance of Yanukovych's visit to China, which is planned for this year.
