The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has said that technical work on the draft association agreement with the EU is to be completed by the end of the year and then the talks on its signing are to be resumed.

"We think that, in principle, this process will be completed by the end of the year," the director of the ministry's information policy department, Oleh Voloshyn, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said technical work on this document was currently being conducted, which, in particular, foresees the translation of the document into all of the languages of the EU member states.

Voloshyn said that after the parliamentary elections in Ukraine, Europe was able to verify that there is political competition and democracy in Ukraine.

He said that the elections in Ukraine had been held with some irregularities in certain districts, but in general they reflected the mood of society.

"This gives us all of the grounds to talk about the unblocking of talks on the association agreement," Voloshyn said.
