Court to hear appeal against Lutsenko's second sentence on November 20, says defense counsel

A court will hear an appeal by Ukraine's former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko against his two-year prison sentence in the criminal case on the poisoning of Ukraine's third President Viktor Yuschenko, the ex-minister's lawyer, Oleksiy Bahanets, has said.

"We have received notice from Pechersky court that the appeal will be considered at 1000 on November 20," Bahanets said.

As reported, on August 17 Kyiv's Pechersky District Court sentenced Lutsenko to two years in prison after convicting him of negligence during the search for Valentyn Davydenko, a driver of the Ukrainian Security Council's ex-deputy head Volodymyr Satsiuk, conducted as a part of investigation of the case on the alleged poisoning of then presidential candidate Viktor Yuschenko.

Lutsenko appealed against this verdict.

The ex-minister, who is currently serving his term in the Mena penal colony in Chernihiv region, said that he wanted to be present at appeal court hearings of his case.
