Batkivschyna, Svoboda, UDAR support re-privatization of enterprises illegally withdrawn from state property
The Batkivschyna United Opposition, Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union and Vitali Klitschko's UDAR Party support the idea of the re-privatization of enterprises withdrawn from state ownership illegally.
"One of the key statements in the program of the united opposition is the re-privatization of entire branches, which, in fact, were gifted to members of President [Viktor] Yanukovych's team: energy, transport, telecommunications, the power industry, the chemical industry, and titan branch," the deputy head of the Batkivschyna central election headquarters, Andriy Pyshny, said on Ukrainian television's Channel 5 on Monday.
"On Wednesday Oleh Tiahnybok [Svoboda leader] and I will present a top-priority package of legislative economic initiatives of Svoboda. The first is a completely new law on privatization. There are four of them now. The second [initiative] is a law on the liquidation of private monopolies. They have to be destroyed. And the third law is on returning property and money from offshore zones, including Cyprus. At the moment we don't know who are the owners of our enterprises, it's impossible to sell them this way," member of Svoboda Union Oleksandr Bondar said.
"UDAR insists that there was not monopolization in all spheres. Therefore there was definitely a series of steps that UDAR would take to restore competition... More gentle methods [other than re-privatization], are practically impossible when the whole economy is in the hands of 3-5 families. At issue is how to restore competitiveness in the economy without violating the law, and not violating the rights of owners of honestly bought property," member of UDAR Party Oksana Prodan said.
