Kyiv hopes to get state budget funds by end of this year to cover difference in energy tariffs

Kyiv's authorities hope that additional funds will be allocated from the state budget by the end of this year in order to cover the difference between the production costs and tariffs for energy, Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said.

"Of course, we'd like the government to envisage the expenditures by the end of the year, and the issue concerns not only Kyiv, but also the whole of Ukraine, adding funding for mutual calculations on energy resources," he told reporters on Monday.

"This work is being conducted, and I don't know whether the budget will be adjusted, but we really need this, because by the end of the year we won't have enough money to make payments in full," he said.

Popov noted that this summer Kyiv had UAH 3 billion worth of debt to JSC Kyivenergo for the difference in tariffs for energy resources. The government allocated additional funds for this purpose, almost UAH 2.5 billion has already been funded, and the debt to Kyivenergo has been reduced by almost 70%.
