The fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, who last year changed his tax residency from Kyiv to the Horodkivka territorial community, paid UAH 47 million in taxes in this small town in Vinnytsia region at the beginning of this year.

"I paid UAH 47 million in taxes in the small town of Horodkivka in Vinnytsia region this year alone," Poroshenko himself wrote on the social network X.

He specified that in January 2024 he transferred UAH 96 million in taxes, of which about UAH 50 million went to the accounts of the territorial community, while this year the community will receive more than UAH 25 million out of his UAH 47 million.

According to Poroshenko, the community will use his funds to build a road worth UAH 78 million, and he will allocate the missing UAH 2-4 million for this purpose from his personal accounts.

A year earlier, the fifth president said that by changing his tax residency he wanted to organize an experiment that could later be extended to other communities with the participation of other major taxpayers in the country. He explained the choice of Horodkivka, with a budget of about UAH 105 million in 2024, by the fact that it is closely connected with the activities of his father, and one of the sugar factories of the Podillia company operates here.

"I am glad that we managed to cover the great needs of several cities and towns with such an experiment," Poroshenko summed up.
