The mobile rehabilitation teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross will expand their activities from eight to 13 regions this year.
"Starting this year, the mobile rehabilitation teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross will work in 13 regions," the Communications and Marketing Department of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society said.
The mobile teams include physical therapists and their assistants providing physical rehabilitation services to people who need to restore lost motor functions, improve physical activity and emotional state after brain injuries, strokes and surgeries. All services are provided in patients' homes or in specially designed centers.
The specialists assess a person's physical condition and develop an individual rehabilitation program; conduct rehabilitation sessions depending on the prognosis for recovery; provide rehabilitation aids (walking frames, sticks, crutches, wheel chairs); give recommendations on adaptation of living conditions; provide psychosocial counseling on emotional support.
Currently, mobile rehabilitation teams operate in the following eight regions: Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk.
Rehabilitation services are available through referrals from a hospital, social service or family doctor, Home Care or mobile medical teams, BraVo volunteers and other programs. To receive rehabilitation services on your own, contact the national hotline of the Ukrainian Red Cross: 0 800 332 656.
