At least 30,000 long-range drones, about 3,000 cruise missiles, drone missiles planned to be produced in Ukraine in 2025 – Shmyhal
Ukraine plans to produce at least 30,000 long-range drones and about 3,000 cruise missiles and drone missiles in 2025, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
"Today I will announce the main priorities of the government and the directions in which we will move forward in 2025. First of all, it is the defense and security of our country.
“We have an all-time high budget to provide for our army and strengthen the defense industry. In total, UAH 2.2 trillion has been allocated for defense and security," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.
According to the prime minister, the cost of weapons and military equipment will amount to at least UAH 739 billion, and the plans of domestic defense industry enterprises involve increasing existing production capacities to $30 billion.
"As part of the Victory Weapons project, we will launch long-term contracts with manufacturers for three to five years. We will pay special attention to the range component and the missile program. The task from the President of Ukraine is to produce at least 30,000 long–range drones. Ukrainian enterprises also plan to manufacture about 3,000 cruise missiles and drone missiles," Shmyhal said.
He also said that Ukraine would develop a "Danish model" in which partners buy weapons from the Ukrainian defense industry for the needs of the Ukrainian army. It is expected to raise more than $1 billion for this program in 2025.
"In the field of security, we will also pay special attention to the development of a shelter system based on the Finnish model. This is a public-private partnership involving an extensive network of safe shelters. In peacetime, these shelters will have different purposes," the prime minister said.
