Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed that the Russians are equipping drones with Starlink satellite systems and stressed the need for a quick response to this problem.

"Today, the Russians launched drones using Starlink. We need to respond very quickly. The speed of our response, forecasting future incidents, and reacting to potential threats must ensure that we prevent problems for our people and our military," Mykhailo Fedorov said Monday evening during the Drone Army – 2025 event.

Fedorov added that, in working on the "mathematics of war," it is necessary to "make fast decisions and bring them to concrete results."

Earlier Monday, Ukrainian Defense Ministry adviser Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov reported that Russian BM-35 strike drones equipped with Starlink can already reach Dnipro. Unlike the Molniya drones, Beskrestnov said, the BM-35 is fuel-powered and can fly up to 500 kilometers.

According to a January 14, 2026 report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces have recently begun equipping their Molniya-2 drones with Starlink satellite systems, significantly increasing their battlefield effectiveness.
