Russian troops not giving up attempts to cross Chasiv Yar canal – Luhansk Group
The Russian occupation forces are trying to cross the canal in Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, but the Ukrainian defense forces are pushing the invaders out of there, Spokesperson for the Luhansk Operational and Tactical Group Anastasia Bobovnykova has said on Thursday.
"Of course, the Russians are trying to gain a foothold. The main word is 'trying'. They are trying to cross the canal in Chasiv Yar. However, this is how it happens: two or three people run across the canal and hide in a house. Accordingly, we are cutting off their logistics routes and pushing them out of there," she said.
As for gaining foothold to the north, the enemy is trying to accumulate equipment, but so far, the defense forces have not seen any assaults with equipment.
"And I can say that this will be difficult for them," Bobovnykova said.
The spokesperson also noted that an airborne division of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation is located opposite Chasiv Yar. Thus, the occupiers bring in personnel every night, replenishing losses, which are also small groups.
"As for losses in the area of responsibility of the Luhansk Group, on average it is 200 enemy killed and wounded per day," she said.
The enemy is still trying to advance along the highway in the direction of Kostiantynivka, but "the line of contact has not moved there for a long time."
"Yes, this is the direction of Stupochky. If you see on the map, the enemy is trying to advance, but the line of contact has not moved for a long time thanks to the actions of our units. They were able to stop the enemy and the situation remains unchanged for […] a month for sure, it has not moved," the spokesperson said.
Earlier, the UK intelligence reported that Russian occupiers were able to advance in the eastern part of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region.
