Irish PM arrives in Kyiv
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris has arrived in Kyiv for a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the Irish TV channel RTE, the leaders will discuss the ongoing war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, EU support for Ukraine and Kyiv's application to join the European Union. The Prime Minister's visit comes after yesterday's Russian missile strike on the city of Poltava, which killed at least 51 people.
Speaking ahead of today's visit, Harris said that “Russia's military strike and the killing of dozens of people in Poltava on Tuesday are a grim and terrifying reminder of the threat that Ukraine faces every day.”
Harris and Zelenskyy will jointly sign a memorandum of understanding on a new bilateral agreement between Ireland and Ukraine.
