Ukraine's President signs law banning activities of churches associated with Russian Orthodox Church
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law banning the activities of religious organizations associated with the Russian Federation. This follows from the map of the draft law, published on the website of the parliament on Saturday.
As the Verkhovna Rada reports on Telegram, on Saturday, August 24, the law of Ukraine on the protection of the constitutional system in the sphere of activity of religious organizations came into force.
"Today, the official print edition of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine - the newspaper Voice of Ukraine published Law of Ukraine 'On the Protection of the Constitutional System in the Sphere of Activities of Religious Organizations' No. 3894-IX," the message says.
It is noted that the purpose of the law is to ban the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church and religious organizations affiliated with it in Ukraine, the law also prohibits the propaganda of the ideology of the "Russian world," in particular, prohibits the use of religious organizations to promote this ideology.
The law enters into force on the day following its publication.
