The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and Infrastructure of Ukraine (the Ministry of Restoration) has agreed with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye to extend the liberalization of freight transportation, the press service of the Ministry of Restoration reported on Thursday.

According to the department, liberalization of freight transportation with Türkiye includes bilateral freight transportation and transit transportation.

“Of the total exports that we supply to Türkiye, about 15% are by road. Turkish companies import almost 60% of the total volume of goods to us by road,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister of Restoration Oleksandr Kubrakov.

As a result of the agreement, the parties no longer require permission to carry out cargo and transit transportation. At the same time, permit-free passage also applies to the entry of empty trucks.

In addition, the Ministry of Restoration agreed with the Turkish side to increase the number of permits for freight transportation to/from third countries and bus transportation to 3,500 permits and 400 permits, respectively.

“We are working on the possibilities of carrying out irregular bus transportation - we have agreed on 400 permits for such trips. In the near future, part of these permits will be delivered to Ukraine for issuance to carriers,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Restoration Serhiy Derkach.

As reported, liberalization of freight transportation is available with 35 countries, including the countries of the European Union. Last year, the team from the Ministry of Restoration managed to agree on the possibility with Norway and North Macedonia and extend the corresponding agreement with Moldova.
